Changing the memory organization on an existing Ewon Flexy 201 performs a complete format. A normal eBuddy restore can then return the device to its previous allocation because the backup contains the original MemOrg value. Set the backup to the new value before restoring it, then restart the device.

Why the memory allocation reverts

The memory configuration is stored in the backup. If that backup retains the original MemOrg value, restoring it overwrites the newly selected organization. The available evidence also refers to removing two lines from config.txt for a related restore procedure, but it does not identify those lines; do not remove unidentified entries based on this information alone.

Select the required MemOrg value

MemOrg User storage Record size
1 29 MB 6 MB
2 21 MB 14 MB
5 16 MB 19 MB

Choose the value that matches the allocation applied during the complete format. Do not restore a backup containing a different value.

Change the allocation and restore the project

  1. Create an eBuddy backup of the existing Flexy 201 project.
  2. Change the device memory configuration, allowing the required complete format and reboot to finish.
  3. Open comcfg.txt in the backup and set MemOrg to the newly selected organization.
  4. Restore the modified backup with eBuddy.
  5. Restart the Flexy 201 so the restored MemOrg setting takes effect.
REM [1: usr/29MB & Record size 6MB | 2: usr/21MB & Record size 14MB | 5: usr/16MB & Record size 19MB]
MemOrg:1

The example preserves organization 1. Replace 1 with 2 or 5 only when that value matches the allocation selected during formatting.

Verify the restored configuration

After the restart, confirm that the device still reports the intended user-storage and record-size allocation. If it returns to the original organization, inspect the restored comcfg.txt and verify that MemOrg was changed in the actual backup used for the restore.

FAQ

Why does my Flexy 201 memory allocation revert after an eBuddy restore?

The backup contains the original MemOrg setting, so restoring it can overwrite the allocation selected during the complete format. Update that setting in the backup before restoring.

Which MemOrg value gives the largest record size?

MemOrg:5 assigns 16 MB to user storage and 19 MB to record size, the largest record allocation listed in the evidence.

Does changing MemOrg require a Flexy 201 restart?

Yes. Restart the system after restoring the modified backup for the MemOrg value to take effect.
